About The Position

DAR Engagement Ambassadors are an integral part of DAR’s comprehensive outreach and communications efforts. Ambassadors will work with a team of students and DAR staff to produce creative and engaging social media content. Content creation is designed to engage with Grinnell community members, provide insight into the student experience, and actively participate in larger Grinnell conversations across social media. Engagement ambassadors will be a liaison between the student body and alumni, connecting them to present-day Grinnell through social media content. Students will be given content ideas and inspiration monthly and attend weekly meetings to discuss content progress. In addition to creating social media content, ambassadors are responsible for coordinating and executing a series of campus wide events throughout the academic year to promote campus affinity and school pride.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, email, and design programs such as Canva.
  • Working knowledge of social media outlets including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and Twitter.
  • Comfort with and willingness to encourage peers to engage with the College through events, philanthropy initiatives, and social platforms.
  • Comfort with being on camera/video.
  • Ability to edit video content.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degrees of sound judgment, professionalism and maturity.

Responsibilities

  • Create social media content for digital distribution to college audiences (approximately 80%).
  • Produce, film, and/or edit at least one piece of video content per month (host IG story takeovers, FB live, IG video, TikTok, YouTube short, etc.).
  • Design graphics (using Canva) and create captions for social media posts.
  • Showcase and promote campus life, student experiences, events, giving days, and other college happenings assigned to you.
  • Collaborate with student groups and campus offices to solicit relevant content.
  • Represent the College positively online.
  • Collaborate with fellow ambassadors to create, plan, and execute one campus-wide event per year, in addition to PFLC care packages, Arctic Lights, ECN care packages, and Alumni Council networking events (approximately 20%).
  • Events should aim to educate peers about the four components of philanthropy: time, talent, treasure, and ties.
  • Assist with Scarlet & Give Back Day, Giving Tuesday, PFLC care packages, ECN care packages, Arctic Lights, and Alumni Council weekends.
  • Assist with the review of DAR marketing materials and providing feedback as needed.
  • Capture/edit photos, create graphics, and write captions based on monthly social media needs.
  • Manage a monthly social media calendar (this will include all assignments and deadlines).
  • Represent the institution professionally and promote the mission of Grinnell College through social media outlets and campus events.
  • Attend weekly meetings with a DAR representative.
  • Attend campus events to capture photos and take videos for social media platforms.
  • Plan and execute campus-wide events and programs that increase campus affinity and engagement with the College.
  • Follow College procedures and policies when posting on social media and hosting events.
  • Work in a goal and metric oriented role, meet established deadlines and achieve program goals.
