About The Position

Speechmatics is seeking a Developer Relations Advocate based in San Francisco to help developers build with its conversational AI and speech technology. The role is part of the Developer Relations team and focuses on growing a developer community, raising Speechmatics’ profile in the local AI and developer ecosystem, and sharing market insight that supports US growth. The advocate will work with developers from their first API call through to building a working product, create practical educational content, and bring community feedback to internal product and engineering teams. The position involves collaborating with developers, partners, community champions, engineering, and product teams. The successful candidate will help shape Developer Relations programmes using community and content data, and will have opportunities to learn from colleagues and work hands-on with Speechmatics’ technology. Speechmatics describes its work as applying AI and machine learning to speech intelligence. The company emphasizes employee development, flexible working, inclusion, and a hybrid working arrangement with two to three designated office days each week.

Requirements

Early-career experience in developer relations, community management, developer support, software development, or a similar role.
Hands-on experience with APIs, SDKs, and developer tools.
Enjoyment of building things and trying new technology.
A collaborative approach and confidence working with engineering and product teams.
Ability to turn community feedback into real improvements.
Curiosity about speech technology, AI, and machine learning, and eagerness to learn.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
Enthusiasm for networking and building relationships with developers, partners, and the wider community.

Nice To Haves

Experience creating content, such as technical writing, documentation, blog posts, videos, or talks, through work, study, open-source contributions, or side projects.

Responsibilities

Represent Speechmatics in San Francisco and build its profile across the city's AI and developer community.
Bring market insight back to the company to inform US growth.
Grow a developer community through online forums, social media, events, and meet-ups.
Bring developers’ feedback into Speechmatics and help translate it into product improvements.
Create tutorials, code samples, demos, blog posts, and documentation to help developers use the technology.
Help developers progress from their first API call to a working product, resolving technical challenges and partnering with engineering on more complex issues.
Help run webinars, hackathons, and community events.
Build relationships with developers, partners, and community champions in support of Developer Relations programmes.
Use community and content data to assess what is working and inform future priorities.
