Developer Evangelist

SynthesiaSeattle, WA

About The Position

Synthesia is seeking its first Developer Evangelist to promote its API and platform capabilities to the developer community. This role involves creating technical content, building sample applications, speaking at events, and acting as a liaison between developers and the product team. The Developer Evangelist will be responsible for increasing developer adoption of Synthesia's AI video embedding solutions. This position is part of the Developer Services team and will collaborate with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Developer Support.

Requirements

  • Experience in developer relations, developer advocacy, technical evangelism, or a similar hybrid technical/communication role, ideally at a platform, API-first, or infrastructure company.
  • Genuinely hands-on: comfortable writing code, working with APIs and SDKs, and building demo applications.
  • Strong, authentic communicator across written, live, and on-stage formats, capable of making technical concepts understandable to a developer audience.
  • Comfortable with regular travel and public speaking.
  • Track record of sustained content output (blog, video, community) rather than one-off campaigns.
  • Skilled at listening and translating developer feedback into actionable signals for the product team.
  • Comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast-moving, developing function.

Nice To Haves

  • Existing following or credibility within a developer community relevant to Synthesia's platform (video, AI/ML, automation, or enterprise software).

Responsibilities

  • Create technical content such as blog posts, tutorials, and how-to guides showcasing real integrations.
  • Build and maintain sample applications, starter kits, and code snippets for common languages and frameworks.
  • Produce video walkthroughs and livestreams, utilizing Synthesia's product.
  • Maintain a consistent output of content to build trust.
  • Represent Synthesia at conferences, meetups, hackathons, and webinars as a speaker, workshop host, or booth presence.
  • Run livestreams and community AMAs focused on implementation details.
  • Build relationships with individual developers, technical bloggers, and community leaders.
  • Travel as needed to engage with relevant developer communities.
  • Become a credible technical voice by getting hands-on with the Synthesia API, debugging, and speaking with authority.
  • Earn trust by being genuinely useful to developers.
  • Focus on long-term developer community engagement.
  • Channel developer feedback, friction points, and feature requests back to Product and Engineering.
  • Partner with Developer Support and Documentation to identify areas for API improvement.
  • Help prioritize the developer experience roadmap.
  • Grow and nurture community channels like Discord/Slack, developer newsletters, and social media.
  • Identify and cultivate community advocates and early power users.
  • Measure content engagement, API sign-ups, community growth, and sentiment to adjust strategy.
