Developer Advocate

Wafer•San Francisco, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Wafer is building AI systems that automatically optimize inference workloads across silicon. The company serves trillions of tokens per month for mission-critical workloads at fast-growing AI startups. Developers access Wafer through its API and through routers such as OpenRouter and Vercel AI Gateway. The Developer Advocate is an engineering and developer-marketing role focused on making Wafer an obvious choice for developers who need fast inference. The role creates practical demonstrations using real code and performance data, owns developer-facing content and experience, participates in developer communities, and brings feedback to product and engineering. The position is on-site in San Francisco five days per week, with substantial autonomy and ownership. Success is measured by how many developers try Wafer and how many continue using it.

Requirements

  • Be an engineer who has built real projects with LLM APIs and can write production-quality sample code.

  • Create trustworthy content about Wafer’s performance, including benchmarks with clear methodology and deep dives into how models are made faster.
  • Own the documentation and developer experience; identify onboarding friction and fix it or coordinate its resolution.
  • Represent Wafer in developer communities, including X, Hacker News, Discord, Reddit, meetups, and conferences.
  • Bring developer feedback to product and engineering.
  • Build developer marketing while doing the work directly.
