About The Position

Harness is seeking a DevOps practitioner to build runnable proof, such as pipeline templates and working examples, that enable developers to successfully use AI-generated code in their pipelines without assistance. The role focuses on identifying and solving common DevOps and developer pain points, such as flaky pipelines, slow builds, deployment risks, tool sprawl, and security noise, by creating practical solutions and compelling narratives. The goal is to provide developers with the resources they need to overcome challenges in the software delivery lifecycle, particularly in the context of AI-accelerated code creation. This position involves creating production-realistic pipeline templates and code samples for CI, CD, GitOps, and feature flags that developers can directly use. The role also includes owning the "zero to first pipeline run" self-serve paths for flagship products, validating them with real users, and producing technical walkthroughs and live coding demos. Maintaining the accuracy and functionality of example repositories as the product evolves is crucial. Additionally, the Developer Advocate will engage with developer communities to understand pain points, answer questions, and transform valuable insights into content. A key responsibility is providing technical sign-off on content produced by the team, ensuring accuracy before publication.

Requirements

Real, hands-on CI/CD experience: built and maintained pipelines in production.
Comfortable writing YAML, scripting (Bash/Python/Go).
Experience working across git, containers/Kubernetes, and common CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, ArgoCD, or similar).
Familiarity with GitOps/progressive delivery, SAST/SCA, or DORA metrics.
Background as a software engineer or DevOps practitioner.
Ability to write clearly for other engineers.
Comfortable on camera or mic for short technical content.
Self-directed: able to identify gaps in self-serve content and build solutions without a brief.

Responsibilities

Identify DevOps/developer problems teams hit most often and build working solutions and narratives around them.
Build forkable, production-realistic pipeline templates and code samples (CI, CD, GitOps, feature flags).
Own and validate "zero to first pipeline run" self-serve paths for flagship products with real, unassisted users.
Record technical walkthroughs and live coding demos of CI/CD workflows on Harness.
Own and maintain the example-repo strategy as the canonical source of truth.
Ensure all samples and tutorials remain functional as the product changes.
Engage in developer communities (GitHub Discussions, Discord, subreddits) to understand pain points and answer questions.
Provide technical sign-off on content produced by the team, catching inaccuracies before publication.
