About The Position

JANUS Research Group is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist with a background in software deployment, platform engineering, and path-to-production strategies for data science applications. The position bridges data science development and enterprise IT infrastructure to help ensure custom applications and models written in Python and R are securely and reliably deployed, monitored, and maintained in production. The role supports modern data science platform tooling and works closely with DevSecOps, Cybersecurity, and Governance teams. The position offers location flexibility between Austin, Texas, and Fort Eustis, Virginia. Candidates must have an active Secret clearance and should verify that they meet the minimum requirements before applying.

Requirements

• Active Secret clearance.
• Strong background in software deployment, platform engineering, and path-to-production strategies for data science applications.
• Experience with custom data science applications and models written in Python and R.

Responsibilities

• Architect, execute, and streamline path-to-production workflows for custom data science applications, interactive dashboards, and API models developed in Python and R.
• Partner with the DevSecOps team to design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that automate testing, building, and deployment for analytics projects.
• Implement and maintain application monitoring, logging, and metrics tracking for runtime health, resource utilization, latency, uptime, and model drift in production.
• Manage, build, and update custom container images and runtime environments to support reproducibility and consistency across development, staging, and production.
• Work with Cybersecurity and Governance teams to ensure deployments comply with cybersecurity policies, vulnerability patching schedules, and enterprise compliance requirements.
• Diagnose, debug, and resolve deployment, environment, performance, and runtime issues for live data science applications as the primary technical point of contact.
• Support and optimize data science platform tools so teams can publish and monitor models, interactive dashboards, and reports.
