About The Position

Under general supervision, performs a variety of administrative and security functions in a detention environment. This role involves monitoring safety and security through various systems, communicating with detention officers, updating logs and records, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of relevant experience.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
  • Knowledge of clerical office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of research techniques and report writing.
  • Knowledge of current Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of filing and recordkeeping.
  • Skill in exercising good judgment, applying logical thinking, and making sound decisions to accomplish tasks.
  • Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
  • Skill in organization and adherence to detail.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies or stressful situations calmly, quickly, and decisively.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to analyze situations, detect problems and facts.
  • Ability to observe or monitor objects, data, and/or behavior to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
  • Ability to keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
  • Ability to remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.

Responsibilities

  • Performs duties in the coordination and movement of the staff and inmate population through the monitoring of audio and video security systems, to include the electronic door controls.
  • Monitors safety and security of the staff, inmates, and visitors by assessing the behavior of inmates while utilizing all the security systems provided.
  • Communicates effectively with Detention Officers by effectively processing inquiries by staff on inmate activities and movements, as well as scheduled inmate activities.
  • Updates all appropriate logs dealing with housing and inmate activity.
  • Updates appropriate records management systems and completes necessary reports.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
