About The Position

The position of Detail Worker - Countertop Builder is responsible for building countertops and custom wood products for the company from raw materials and/or pre-constructed items. This role will need to work the assigned shift, including any mandatory overtime.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability and knowledge to build countertops out of laminate, solid surface, veneer, solid wood, compact, richlite, and more.
  • Utilize situational awareness in detecting any deviation in the functioning of the machine.
  • Basic mathematics.
  • Extensive knowledge of materials and building processes and their functions.
  • Ability to operate standard shop machinery and all hand tools, including table saw, nail guns, chop saws, etc.
  • Able to read cut list and shop drawings.
  • Ability to understand read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ensuring that safety is always top priority while working.
  • Ability to work schedule as assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of custom millwork and cabinetry working experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Primarily responsible for building countertops out of laminate, solid surface, veneer, solid wood, compact, richlite, and more.
  • Sets up and operates variety of woodworking machines and uses various hand tools to fabricate cabinets and other items.
  • Reviews blueprints or drawings of articles to be constructed or repaired and plans sequence of cutting or shaping operations to be performed.
  • Mark outline or dimensions of parts on paper or lumber stock, according to blueprint or drawing specifications.
  • Matches materials for color, grain, or texture.
  • Sets up and operates woodworking machines, such as table saws, jointer, mortiser, and shaper, to cut and shape parts from wood stock.
  • Trim component parts of joints to ensure snug fit, using hand tools, such as table saw, hand routers or skill saw.
  • Bores holes for insertion of screws or dowels by hand or using boring machine.
  • Glues, fits, and clamps parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit, using clamps or draw bolts.
  • Drives nails or other fasteners into joints at designated places to reinforce joints.
  • Sands and scrapes surfaces and joints of articles to prepare articles for finishing.
  • Estimate hours and material take-off from drawings.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance, arrive on time for scheduled shifts, and adhere to the company’s attendance policies and procedures.
