About The Position

The Detail Runner supports fabrication and welding operations by moving, staging, and preparing steel materials and components throughout the shop. This role assists fitters and welders by ensuring materials are properly detailed, positioned, and available at each stage of the fabrication process while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and/or a minimum of three (3) months of related training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and shop drawings/prints.
Familiarity with operating overhead cranes and/or jib cranes (training or certification preferred, as applicable).
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using all units of measure.
Ability to interpret fabrication, erection, and detail prints.
OSHA-10 Certification.

Training or certification in operating overhead cranes and/or jib cranes.

Responsibilities

Lift, position, and remove steel workpieces to support fitting and welding operations.
Assist fitters and welders with material handling and preparation.
Attach chains, slings, and other approved rigging or handling equipment to materials in preparation for movement by overhead crane or jib.
Detail beams and stage materials according to fabrication requirements and shop drawings.
Move materials from fabrication areas to welding areas and other designated shop locations.
Clean and maintain work areas, machines, tools, and equipment to support safe and efficient operations.
Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Perform other duties as assigned to support shop operations.
