About The Position

We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Desserts Baker for our Central Kitchen. The Desserts Baker is responsible for preparing, mixing, shaping, decorating, and baking a variety of pastries, cakes, and other dessert items with fine technical skills and close attention to detail. This role supports daily production and catering operations while maintaining product quality, presentation, food safety, and efficiency standards. This position reports to the Bakery Supervisor and works closely with catering and production managers, as well as team members across Bakery departments. This position is a great fit for someone who takes pride in their craft, has an eye for fine detail and presentation, and is committed to delivering exceptional desserts and pastries.

Requirements

  • Current Oregon Food Handler's Card
  • Minimum 1–2 years' experience in a commercial bakery, or a Culinary Degree in Baking and Pastry
  • Advanced proficiency in pastry and dessert techniques, including mixing, shaping, decorating, and baking with fine detail
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, consistency, food safety, and presentation
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude with the ability to maintain composure and productivity under pressure
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to accurately count, measure, and scale ingredients using fractions, ratios, and proportions
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.; bend, twist, stoop, and stand for extended periods
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed

Responsibilities

  • Measure, weigh, mix, shape, and decorate a variety of dessert and pastry products using hands, mixers, scales, and other pastry equipment, producing items of consistent quality and fine detail
  • Place pastry in pans, proof dough, and bake using appropriate equipment; inspect products for quality during and after baking and adjust processes as needed
  • Review production schedules to determine variety and quantity of goods to bake, and assemble the supplies and equipment needed for daily baking activities
  • Produce all items precisely according to established recipes and instructions, completing production by the requested time
  • Consistently meet production quantity and quality goals, including taste, presentation, and overall quality standards
  • Communicate order status and product information to catering and production managers, and relay production needs and priorities to the next shift
  • Oversee inventory rotation and stocking, and check in deliveries as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas, in compliance with all sanitation procedures
  • Assist in other Bakery departments when requested
  • Assist fellow bakers with end-of-shift kitchen cleaning
