Maintenance Technician - Desserts
About The Position
As a part of our manufacturing group, you will be responsible for preventative and reactive maintenance of processing and packaging equipment and providing technical support to improve and optimize within the manufacturing operations and processes. The Geneva General Mills facility is located on the western side of the Chicago, Illinois suburbs in Kane County. Geneva is our most recent North America plant network expansion, joining the GMI network in 2024 as they make Betty Crocker desserts and our iconic Gushers and Fruit snacks. Requirements
- Minimum of a high school education or GED
- Proficient in English
- 2+ years (minimum) in industrial maintenance or related industry experience and/or equivalent education in a related field/industry
- Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of PLC operation, electrical components and systems troubleshooting, including use of a multimeter
Nice To Haves
- Basic shop equipment (mill, lathe, grinder, presses, etc) preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred
Responsibilities
- Installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing industrial processing and packaging machinery, work tools and equipment
- Identifying and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical and/or electronic issues
- Providing technical support and plant leadership for equipment troubleshooting and equipment modification
- Own and manage DMS (Daily Management System) activities inside and outside of shift DDS (Daily Direction Setting)
- Management of work order, parts requisition, and data entry through understanding and use of Maximo Maintenance Management System
- Understanding, initiating, and participating in Root Cause Analysis (Why, Why)
- Performing both uptime and down time preventative maintenance
- Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to increase platform performance
- Assist in training new employees
