About The Position

Ready to shape the future of science and global health? A global nonprofit that provides trusted biological materials for science and health, ATCC is hiring a Desktop Support Specialist. This onsite role is based primarily in Manassas, VA with at least 1 day per week based in one of our Maryland facilities and additional travel to ATCC's Gaithersburg and Germantown, MD sites as required. This role provides hands-on technical support for end users across desktop, laptop, mobile, and peripheral technologies. The position serves as a key entry point for IT support, resolving Service Desk requests, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, supporting onboarding activities, and maintaining technology assets across three locations. We are seeking a Desktop Support Specialist, ideally with desktop support and end-user computing experience and experience supporting corporate technology environments. Requirements

  • High School Diploma and 1 year of experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience providing desktop support and troubleshooting hardware, software, and end-user technology issues.
  • Experience imaging, configuring, deploying, and supporting desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID, and common desktop operating systems.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience maintaining IT asset inventories and documenting support activities through ticketing systems.
  • Ability to support Windows and Mac environments.

Nice To Haves

  • A+ or Net+ Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and resolve Service Desk requests for hardware, software, mobile device, audio/visual and peripheral issues across Windows and Mac environments.
  • Image, configure, deploy, and support desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and related technology for new and existing employees.
  • Diagnose technical issues, perform system repairs and upgrades, run diagnostics, and escalate incidents when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate IT asset inventory records and support technology refresh initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to end users to promote effective and efficient use of technology.
  • Assist with office moves, equipment setup, and coordination with other IT teams to address incidents and service requests.
