About The Position

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an entry-level Desktop Support Specialist to join Academic Technology, a unit within UFIT. The UFIT Help Desk is a fully staffed call center that provides IT support to the entire campus. UF Information Technology (UFIT) enables teaching, learning, research, and service on campus and across the region with state-of-the-art enterprise IT systems, including SEC and SUS universities, and the opportunity to teach using HiPerGator. Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other employees dedicated and focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

Requirements

• Associate's degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience.
• Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience, but does not negate the minimum degree requirement(s).
• A valid Florida Driver’s License required at the time of hire

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of various current OS environments
• Experience providing direct customer support
• Troubleshooting basic hardware and software, operating systems and utilities, and Internet client/server software
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, G Suite, Dropbox, and other software used across campus

Responsibilities

• Assists end users with getting set up on supported equipment and software
• Assist with inventory
• Familiarizing end-users with how to use the equipment and software
• Assists end users with resolving software issues pertaining to supported software
• Installs and moves computers, printers, and other end-user technology devices, including installing designated system images and application software
• Troubleshoots and resolves entry-level problems and provides entry-level maintenance for computers, printers, and other end-user technology devices
