About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Sr. Desktop Engineer (SCCM) for a new/exciting program out of Quantico, VA. This role involves sustaining, modernizing, and transforming the enterprise IT capabilities of the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA). The engineer will support a transformational infrastructure program, providing an enterprise IT solution that delivers highly secured and adaptable IT infrastructure, customer support, and cutting-edge technologies under a single IT environment (i.e., One IT). The position requires safeguarding national information and providing security oversight for classified facilities and information systems.

  • Must possess a Sec+ Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of data input/output devices across DCSA networks, supporting IT modernization and "One IT" initiatives.
  • Align technical efforts with DCSA and DoD policies, procedures, and industry best practices to build a flexible, evolving enterprise IT environment that supports DCSA's mission effectively.
  • Create and update enterprise desktop images, including non-standard workstation images for standalone systems.
  • Perform quarterly updates and deliveries of enterprise desktop images to the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
  • Maintain and secure all enterprise endpoints, ensuring compliance with security standards and functionality requirements.
  • Identify, log, and track user-reported issues, such as software conflicts and hardware device malfunctions, through the IT incident ticketing system.
  • Resolve Tier II technical support tickets escalated to the Desktop Engineering team, escalating further if required.
  • Diagnose and recommend solutions for security or functionality issues in desktop images.
  • Assist customers with software installation, peripheral setup, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional DCSA teams, including Data Center Operations (DCO) and Computer Network Defense, to streamline the deployment, patching, securing, sanitizing, and transportation of IT assets.
  • Analyze deployment failures, identify problematic trends, and recommend corrective actions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure timely restoration, maintenance, and replacement of IT equipment, including laptops, tablets, workstations, and peripherals.
  • Recommend and implement technologies, processes, and knowledge management tools to enhance desktop engineering effectiveness.
  • Maintain and update documentation on desktop system/network configurations, software inventory, and automation trends.
  • Contribute to training initiatives for the deployment of new technologies and solutions.
  • Develop and update a knowledge base to facilitate the investigation, diagnosis, and resolution of incidents.
