The Desktop Engineer is responsible for delivering excellent front-line IT support while engineering, securing, automating, and maintaining the company's global endpoint environment. The organization is primarily macOS based, and the successful candidate must have deep Mac administration experience together with strong hands-on Windows 11 expertise. Based in the Los Angeles office, this position will support employees locally and remotely while partnering with IT colleagues and business teams across international offices and time zones. The role is expected to balance responsive Tier 1 support with longer-term engineering work that improves reliability, standardization, security, automation, and the employee technology experience.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of professional desktop engineering, endpoint administration, systems administration, or advanced desktop support experience.
  • Strong macOS administration and troubleshooting experience in a managed corporate environment.
  • Strong Windows 11 administration and troubleshooting experience.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise MDM or endpoint-management platforms.
  • Experience with Apple Business Manager and Automated Device Enrollment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID and Windows Autopilot.
  • Experience with FileVault and BitLocker.
  • Proficiency with shell/Bash scripting and working proficiency with PowerShell.
  • Understanding of endpoint security, patch management, least privilege, identity, SSO, MFA, certificates, and device compliance concepts.
  • Strong hardware and peripheral troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with ticketing systems and structured incident/request management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with remote colleagues and users across countries, cultures, and time zones.
  • Strong documentation, organization, ownership, and follow-through.
  • Customer-service mindset combined with an engineering approach to eliminating recurring problems.

  • Experience supporting a global or multi-office organization.
  • Experience managing a predominantly Mac enterprise environment.
  • Experience with Iru/Kandji, Jamf, Microsoft Intune, or comparable endpoint-management platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 technical support for employees in Los Angeles and across the global organization, with appropriate escalation of complex issues.
  • Troubleshoot macOS, Windows 11, laptops, peripherals, applications, browsers, authentication, SSO/MFA, Wi-Fi, VPN, and basic network connectivity.
  • Own and continuously improve the standard macOS endpoint configuration.
  • Administer MDM policies, Automated Device Enrollment, Apple Business Manager integrations, configuration profiles, software deployment, compliance, FileVault, OS updates, and application patching.
  • Administer and support Windows 11 endpoints, including Microsoft Entra ID, Windows Autopilot, MDM, BitLocker, Windows Update, application deployment, and endpoint security controls.
  • Develop Bash/shell and PowerShell scripts for provisioning, configuration, remediation, reporting, and automation.
  • Package, test, deploy, update, configure, and remove endpoint applications.
  • Implement endpoint hardening and compliance requirements in partnership with Information Security.
  • Manage the workstation lifecycle from procurement and enrollment through deployment, repair, reassignment, recovery, secure wiping, and retirement.
  • Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory and assist with lifecycle forecasting and spare-device planning.
  • Coordinate domestic and international onboarding and offboarding activities involving employee equipment.
  • Work with international IT teams to understand regional needs, establish global standards, document approved exceptions, and coordinate endpoint changes.
  • Support remote employees across time zones and develop effective escalation and handoff procedures with regional IT resources.
  • Coordinate international equipment logistics, warranty service, replacement, recovery, and regional hardware alternatives.
  • Maintain technical documentation, support procedures, configuration standards, and end-user knowledge articles.
  • Identify recurring support issues and implement root-cause fixes rather than relying solely on repeated manual remediation.
  • Develop self-service, zero-touch, and self-healing capabilities where practical.
  • Participate in endpoint projects, OS upgrades, security initiatives, application rollouts, and technology evaluations.
  • Occasionally participate in meetings or coordinated changes outside normal Los Angeles business hours when reasonably necessary for global initiatives.
