About The Position

The Desktop Administrator II maintains and manages distributed desktop and laptop systems and software, including, but not limited to, installation, configuration, preventive maintenance, operation, and problem-resolution activities. This role involves creating a positive team experience, assisting users with questions or problems, and supporting system backups, recovery, and new software installations. The position also requires training employees, identifying and repairing product failures, and ordering/replacing parts as needed. Additionally, the Desktop Administrator will proactively update work status, liaise with US and India teams, determine and recommend suitable products or services, administer Microsoft® Exchange mailboxes and users in Active Directory, and install, configure, and troubleshoot server applications and racks. The role also includes administering Active Directory and DNS, managing print subsystems, electronic software, and patch distribution, and administering PC auditing functions. The Desktop Administrator is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining products and equipment, conducting testing, and assisting in general lab work. This includes diagnosing and repairing desktop and laptop hardware issues, assisting system administrators with complex technical tasks, coordinating computer equipment moves, and maintaining hardware inventory and logs. The role also involves server hardware installation and swap-outs, documenting system configurations for disaster recovery, and setting/maintaining firm standards for desktop operating systems, antivirus software, disk imaging, disk encryption, and shrink-wrap applications. Maintaining up-to-date BIOS/firmware for desktops, laptops, and printers, applying the latest security patches to desktop operating systems, and ensuring desktop software license compliance are also key responsibilities. The Desktop Administrator will maintain current versions of firm software on end-user systems, contribute to efficiency improvements through process automation, and assist with other projects as needed.

Requirements

  • High-school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) with two to four years related desktop administration experience.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written French and English required.
  • Experience working in a French-speaking, corporate environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft® Word and Access
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Excel, Outlook, Internet navigation and research, systems administration tools, and scripting and automation tools.
  • Valid driver's license required.
