The Toro Company is seeking a Designer II to meet customer requirements and schedules. This role assists in the execution of all documentation, release, production, and service follow-up of assigned new or revised products. Requirements

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of a school/employment or any other visa, regardless of expiration date, now or in the future.
  • BD/BS, Engineering related field.
  • Two-year degree: 3-5 years of experience.
  • Four-year degree: 1-3 years of experience.
  • CAD, SolidWorks.
  • Manufacturing environment experience.
  • MRP/ERP.
  • Problem solving skills.

  • Lean/ CI Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create designs and design layouts for new product concepts, new products, or improvements to existing products.
  • Ensure engineering design for new and improved products meets market, safety, quality, performance, reliability, durability, and regulatory requirements of the customer.
  • Prepare design layouts and coordinate designs with others assigned to the project to ensure integration.
  • Responsible for design details such as design concepts, CAD modeling, layouts, material selection, preliminary FEA, and drawing reviews including GD&T.
  • Secure assistance from consultants or internal specialists (e.g., CAE analysis support engineers, manufacturing engineers, vendor experts).
  • Use the best technology available in all areas of design.
  • Conduct team design reviews, safety reviews, and cost and manufacturing reviews.
  • Ensure that all parts designed can be manufactured (DFMA).
  • Maintain accurate lists of parts created in CAD (Creo) and SAP.
  • Coordinate or help to coordinate the release of parts for production (prototypes or final production).
  • Work with Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Test Engineers, and others to determine changes needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Work with vendors to identify and select vendor-supplied components for integration into designs.
  • Keep supervisor informed of project status and issues that may require assistance.
  • Assist manufacturing/assembly during prototype, pilot, and production builds at plant locations.
  • Prepare prototypes to ensure needs are met for sales, marketing, manuals, packaging, service, manufacturing, and QC reference.
  • Create and document potential patentable ideas.
