Requirements

  • BD/BS, Engineering related field.
  • Two-year degree: 3-5 years of experience.
  • Four-year degree: 1-3 years of experience.
  • CAD, SolidWorks.
  • Manufacturing environment experience.
  • MRP/ERP.
  • Problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create designs and design layouts for new product concepts, new products, or improvements to existing products.
  • Ensure engineering design for new and improved products meets market, safety, quality, performance, reliability, durability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare design layouts and coordinate designs with others assigned to the project to ensure integration.
  • Responsible for design details including concepts, CAD modeling, layouts, material selection, preliminary FEA, and drawing reviews including GD&T.
  • Secure assistance from consultants or internal specialists such as CAE analysis support engineers (CFD, FEA, NVH), manufacturing engineers, and vendor experts.
  • Use the best technology available in all areas of design.
  • Conduct team design reviews, safety reviews, and cost and manufacturing reviews.
  • Ensure that all parts designed can be manufactured (DFMA).
  • Maintain accurate lists of parts created in CAD (Creo) and SAP.
  • Coordinate or help to coordinate the release of parts for production, whether for prototypes or final production.
  • Work with Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Test Engineers, and others to determine necessary changes to meet customer requirements.
  • Work with vendors to identify and select vendor-supplied components for integration into designs.
  • Keep supervisor informed of project status and issues that may require assistance.
  • Assist manufacturing/assembly during prototype, pilot, and production builds at plant locations.
  • Prepare prototypes to ensure needs are met for sales, marketing, manuals, packaging, service, manufacturing, and QC reference.
  • Create and document potential patentable ideas.
