About The Position

At Milwaukee Tool, the Engineering Team develops complex carpentry and nailing products with the goal of disrupting the market. The Designer II designs and develops products using CAD and mechanical design skills, contributing to projects ranging in complexity and helping deliver new technologies and solutions.

Requirements

• Associate degree in a technical discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in designing, drafting, and computer modeling.
• Ability to develop creative design solutions using CAD and mechanical design skills.
• Experience with Siemens NX or similar 3D CAD software.
• Experience with methods and materials used to manufacture power tools.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience designing die castings, plastic molded parts, sheet metal stampings, and machined parts.

Responsibilities

• Create CAD models using Siemens NX, incorporating complex surfacing for projects of varying complexity.
• Design die castings, plastic molded parts, sheet metal stampings, and machined parts.
• Complete analysis, research, and solutions for low- to moderate-level technical issues.
• Provide CAD guidance and expertise to other Engineering team members.
• Prepare drawings, product bills of materials, and change notices for release or distribution.
• Plan assigned design work, deliver according to plan, and escalate when plans are off track.
• Perform basic dimensioning and tolerancing calculations for multi-part assemblies, ensuring moving parts do not interfere with fixed parts.
• Understand and apply geometric and form tolerance dimensioning.
• Test prototypes and competitive tools, measuring and recording data for Engineers to evaluate.
• Assemble and disassemble tools and mechanisms to assist with testing.
