About The Position

Weyerhaeuser is seeking an experienced Engineered Wood Products Designer to join their Western Specification Team within the Marketing and Sales organization. This role utilizes proprietary software applications (Javelin™, Forte®, Estima™, CAD) to design, layout, and optimize engineered lumber and structural frame products for strategic partners. Design associates provide accurate layout drawings, material lists, and design services to end users. The primary focus is design and drafting, with secondary emphasis on service coordination, customer, and market interaction. This is a remote position, with occasional on-site requirements at specific Distribution Centers in WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, and AZ. Candidates must reside in one of these operating states.

Requirements

  • 2-year technical degree OR equivalent construction industry experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend Residential Wood Frame construction documents
  • Microsoft Office suite knowledge – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Able and willing to reside in one of our operating locations

Nice To Haves

  • Residential wood framing construction background
  • Working knowledge of CAD and/or estimating applications
  • Certification in structural/architectural drafting
  • Previous experience with Engineered Wood Products (i-joists, GLB’s)
  • Previous Designer or Estimator experience
  • Understanding of roof and floor load development

Responsibilities

  • Use design tools and software applications to provide technical services supporting the design and specification of Weyerhaeuser Structural Frame products.
  • Produce comprehensive framing layouts for floor, roof, and wall systems.
  • Provide design calculations for single structural members.
  • Offer design consultation to dealers, builders, general contractors, building inspectors, architects, engineers, sales associates, and owners to provide innovative solutions to framing challenges.
