About The Position

RiteScreen is a leader in the North American window and door screen market, known for its scale, speed, and innovation. The Design-to-Cost Engineer will be responsible for architecting and executing value engineering programs to reduce material, process, design, logistics, and supplier costs, while maintaining quality, service, and safety standards. This role focuses on cutting costs without compromising product integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–10 years in manufacturing engineering, value engineering, cost reduction, or lean roles.
  • Strength in analytics, problem solving, and cost modeling/should-cost.
  • Knowledge of Lean and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with PFMEA and risk assessment.
  • Excel power user.
  • ERP proficient.
  • Proven cross-functional collaborator with strong project management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fenestration, aluminum extrusion products, building products, or similar fields.
  • CAD experience.

Responsibilities

  • Construct project charters aligned to company goals and maintain a pipeline of initiatives with savings targets and timelines.
  • Run DFM/DTC evaluations to reduce cost through optimization of aluminum, mesh, components, and spline, as well as hardware simplification, packaging upgrades, and SKU standardization.
  • Partner with suppliers on substitutions and specification changes.
  • Examine metal forming, assembly, and packaging processes to reduce labor content, scrap/rework, cycle time, and material waste.
  • Implement automation and tooling improvements where appropriate.
  • Lead projects across engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain, managing rollout across multiple plants.
  • Update PFMEA, control plans, and work instructions.
  • Build should-cost models and cost transparency with procurement and vendors.
  • Aid negotiations with suppliers.
  • Explore consolidation, alternate sourcing, and value-engineered redesigns.
  • Create cost models for products, components, and processes.
  • Perform should-cost analysis on aluminum extrusions, fiberglass mesh, hardware, and packaging.
  • Report on pipeline, realized savings, status, and ROI.
