Design Technologist / BIM Lead - Product Platform

The American Housing CorporationAustin, TX

About The Position

The American Housing Corporation (AHC) is developing a prefabricated, panelized residential product platform for rowhome and low-rise multifamily applications. The Design Technologist / BIM Lead will own the digital production flow and design automation on the Product team. This role is central to creating a seamless workflow between product development and scalable project delivery. You will execute across the full stack: design, modeling, documentation, factory, and the field. You think in systems and platforms, move quickly and iteratively, and are comfortable living in the design to manufacturing to construction loop. You take ownership past the traditional architectural boundary, and you're organized and quality-control minded.

Requirements

  • Advanced digital workflow / cross-platform fluency.
  • Required: advanced modeling in Revit, ACC, Rhino, Dynamo, Grasshopper, and visualization software.
  • Proven ability to move data across software and platforms and to design how information flows through a toolchain.
  • Licensed architect (or on a clear path to licensure).
  • 6–10+ years in architecture, with hands-on experience in building-system coordination, modeling, documentation, and construction.
  • Strong grasp of architectural documentation fundamentals — what gets documented, and to whom — alongside building-systems integration and CD standards.
  • Proven ability to maintain complex systems across multiple product and project iterations.

Nice To Haves

  • Agentic / AI-assisted tool development is a plus.
  • Prefabrication / modular / panelized construction
  • Product-platform delivery over project-based delivery
  • AEC tech background and architectural productization development
  • Experience integrating architecture with structural and MEP systems
  • Hands-on involvement in construction or prototyping

Responsibilities

  • Design automation strategy. In collaboration with Product and Software teams decide how the product platform and its workflows scale.
  • Propose ways to expedite product development and scale project delivery across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Build and maintain a BIM library of kit-of-parts and rules-based configuration system governing unit layouts, stacking, and variation — all operating within structural, MEP, manufacturing, and code constraints.
  • Advance each component through concept to BIM to construction documentation to field validation.
  • Work with Software, Manufacturing, and Construction teams on automating BOM generation from concept feasibility to construction documentation.
  • Define how the system is communicated and handed off to manufacturing, the field, jurisdiction authorities, and future projects — panelization logic, fabrication-intent details, install sequencing, and the standards that let the next project move fast.
  • Act as the connective point across Architecture, Structural, MEP, manufacturing, software, and in-field teams, resolving conflicts in the model rather than the field.
  • Maintain fabrication-aligned BIM models, permit-ready drawing sets, and a controlled component library consistent across every product variation.
  • Produce high-quality drawings for all components.
  • Automate parts of drawing production using the BIM library of parts.
