About The Position

Bell is shaping the future of aviation through specialized engineering and is looking for a Design Technician to join their team. The Design Technician will report to the Manager of the Centre de Finition (CFA) and will be responsible for designing customization drawings for helicopters, adhering to customer needs and certification requirements. Key areas of focus include lighting, passenger audio/visual systems, communication systems, and the integration of electrical power and other electronic systems. Requirements

  • College degree in aerospace design or electrical design
  • At least five (5) years of experience in product design in the aerospace engineering sector, or the equivalent will be preferred.
  • A versatile candidate with experience and knowledge in structure, wiring and installation of electrical systems will be preferred.
  • Knowledge of Catia V5/V6 is essential.
  • Functional knowledge in French is required.
  • Functional knowledge in English is required for this position, as it involves communication in English with Bell teams outside of Quebec and/or its suppliers, partners, and clients outside of Quebec.
  • Any other combination of schooling and experience deemed equivalent may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Manage customer product design projects from initial concept through production of finished product.
  • Design solutions to implement the client’s customizing choices while meeting the deadlines.
  • Integrate the solutions from an electrical and/or airframe aspect.
  • Evaluate the design requirements for the projects.
  • Determine what data is required for design requirements.
  • Design products using Catia V6 and/or Capital Harness System (CHS) software.
  • Modify existing designs as needed.
  • Assist manufacturing personnel with the installation process.
  • Continuous discussions with all stakeholders involved in the design approval.
  • Complete special projects and tasks as assigned by the Design Group Lead and/or Project Lead.
  • Support the development and improvement of engineering tools and process to support cost saving initiatives and lifecycle of customized helicopters.
