About The Position

The Design Technician 1 modifies drawings based on engineer markups and specifications of existing drawings, creates new AutoCAD and MicroStation drawings from hand drawings, and prints drawing copies. The role supports design coordination, review, quality control, and field requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 3 years of experience.
Design experience with the listed tools.
Attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to sit and work at a computer screen for extended periods.
Ability to reach with hands or arms and use finger dexterity to manipulate objects, such as a keyboard.
Ability to understand spoken information, communicate verbally, read and understand written information, apply general rules to specific problems, and identify and understand another person's speech.

Nice To Haves

Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree.
Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and related concepts.
Knowledge of field installation best practices.
Field experience with electrical installations.
Completed electrical apprenticeship and journeyman or master electrician status.

Responsibilities

Review coordinated models.
Create and manage plan views, sections, and part details.
Create, annotate, and dimension drawings.
Participate in the design coordination process and resolve coordination conflicts.
Participate in design review and quality control processes.
Distribute drawings to support field requirements.
Modify drawings based on engineer markups and specifications of existing drawings.
Create new AutoCAD and MicroStation drawings from hand drawings and print copies.
