About The Position

SoFi’s in-house creative studio is seeking a Design Systems Designer to build, evolve, and maintain design systems supporting its marketing website. The role contributes scalable foundations, components, patterns, and guidelines that help teams create cohesive, accessible, high-quality web experiences. The designer collaborates with Interactive Design, Brand, Product Design, Engineering, Product Marketing, Content, and Creative partners. The primary focus is the design system, with additional work designing landing pages as needed and creating custom icons to strengthen the visual language. The ideal candidate is systems-minded, collaborative, detail-oriented, and able to balance consistency with creativity.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience in digital, web, product, or brand design.
• Experience building a design system.
• A portfolio demonstrating strong web design, visual design, and systems thinking.
• Experience designing responsive marketing websites and landing pages.
• Understanding of design system principles, including tokens, components, variants, states, patterns, and templates.
• Ability to recognize patterns across components, modules, tokens, and page experiences, and determine when to create, consolidate, or extend solutions.
• Experience collaborating with engineers and working within technical constraints.
• Strong visual design skills, including layout, typography, color, composition, and hierarchy.
• Experience creating or maintaining icon libraries, or a strong interest in developing iconography skills.
• Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive design principles.
• Strong Figma skills, including components, variables, styles, libraries, and prototyping.
• Clear communication and strong collaboration skills.
• High attention to detail and willingness to ask questions, incorporate feedback, and improve work.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working on financial services, fintech, technology, or other highly regulated websites.
• Experience supporting large-scale marketing websites with many products, pages, and content types.
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, responsive behavior, and front-end development constraints.
• Experience with motion, interaction design, or micro-interactions.
• Experience working within a brand redesign or evolving visual identity.
• Comfort incorporating AI tools, including Cursor, into workflow for exploration, documentation, prototyping, and system maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development and maintenance of the marketing web design system, including foundations, components, modules, patterns, and templates.
• Design flexible, scalable solutions for varied products, audiences, and marketing needs.
• Create design specifications, usage guidance, and documentation for system assets.
• Partner with Engineering to ensure designs are feasible, accessible, responsive, and accurately implemented.
• Collaborate with Brand and Creative partners to translate the visual identity into a cohesive web experience.
• Design and refine landing pages when needed, applying system principles and identifying opportunities to improve or expand the system.
• Explore layouts, visual treatments, and interaction patterns that support user and business goals.
• Create and maintain custom website icons and the broader icon library.
• Participate in design audits to identify inconsistencies, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
• Apply accessibility, responsive design, and interaction principles.
• Contribute to design system governance, maintenance, and ongoing improvements.
• Present work, participate in critiques, and communicate design rationale to partners and stakeholders.
• Incorporate feedback and complete design updates with attention to detail.
• Manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
