About The Position

Newton Research is seeking a contract designer to shape the company’s brand across sales decks, trade show booths, email, landing pages, and merchandise. The designer will also create a structured, markdown-based design system that AI design tools can read and apply consistently, enabling employees outside the design function to produce on-brand materials. The role is suited to someone who is enthusiastic about AI and already uses it for inspiration, image generation, and rapid iteration. The designer will own projects end-to-end, collaborate closely with marketing, growth, and go-to-market teams, and help develop how an AI-native company approaches marketing design as it scales. The engagement is remote, part-time at 20 or more hours, and lasts three months, with an option to extend. The contract rate is $90–$115 per hour based on experience. A base salary range of $60,000–$80,000 is also listed.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of design experience and a portfolio demonstrating range across brand, marketing, and sales materials.
  • Hands-on experience using AI in design work, including image generation, AI-assisted ideation, and AI design tools such as Claude Design; applicants should share examples.
  • Experience building or maintaining design systems or brand guidelines, and comfort writing them in markdown or another structured, text-based format.
  • Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience preparing files for print production, including event graphics, signage, and merchandise.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote-first environment with minimal hand-holding.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain design decisions, incorporate feedback, and teach others to use design systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in B2B SaaS, adtech, or marketing technology.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a markdown-based design system covering brand principles, color, typography, layout, imagery, components, and usage rules for use by AI design tools.
  • Create templates and guidelines that enable marketers, sellers, and other non-designers to produce on-brand decks, one-pagers, and visuals.
  • Test the design system across tools and use cases, identify brand inconsistencies, and refine its source files.
  • Document workflows and coach team members on using AI design tools effectively.
  • Design sales enablement materials, including pitch decks, one-pagers, case studies, battle cards, and proposal templates.
  • Create trade show and event branding, including booth graphics, signage, banners, and printed collateral.
  • Design branded merchandise and swag.
  • Design email templates and landing pages in collaboration with the marketing team.
  • Use AI tools for concepting, moodboards, and image generation to move efficiently from brief to polished output.
  • Partner with marketing, growth, and go-to-market teams to turn briefs into polished, on-brand visuals.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and deliver work on deadline without sacrificing quality.
  • Give and receive feedback constructively and iterate quickly based on stakeholder input.
