Design & Release Engineer- Hybrid & ICE Clutches
About The Position
Ford Motor Company is seeking a Design & Release Engineer to join the team defining the future of its powertrain portfolio. This role involves supporting the rapidly growing complexity of Hybrid and ICE Transmission programs. It is a "cradle-to-grave" ownership position, where the engineer will lead the design, development, and production release of critical clutch components that directly impact vehicle performance, NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness), and durability. The Product Development team at Ford uses design thinking and user experience methods to deliver breakthrough products and services, focusing on innovative, exciting, and sustainable ideas in areas like autonomy, electrification, and smart mobility technologies.
Requirements
- Understanding and effective utilization of product check-in/check-out processes, version control, data release, and change management within Ford’s PLM ecosystem.
- Ability to perform feasibility analyses using CAD tools, including draft angle analysis, undercut detection, minimum bend radius validation for sheet metal, and clearance checks to support manufacturing and machining requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and production release of critical clutch components that directly impact vehicle performance, NVH, and durability.
- Manage product release CAD and BOM structures, including assembly positioning and mass attribute analysis.
- Facilitate supplier data integration.
- Develop CAD studies to support and drive design improvements.
- Understand and effectively utilize product check-in/check-out processes, version control, data release, and change management within Ford’s PLM ecosystem.
- Perform feasibility analyses using CAD tools, including draft angle analysis, undercut detection, minimum bend radius validation for sheet metal, and clearance checks to support manufacturing and machining requirements.
