About The Position

Shambaugh is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer to design fire protection systems for a range of project types. The role includes laying out fire sprinkler systems, producing designs with AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and AutoSPRINK, creating hydraulic calculations and pipe lists for prefabrication, and supporting BIM modeling and field surveying. The designer reads and interprets construction drawings and specifications, coordinates with other trades, and develops ongoing customer relationships. The position may require extended hours and weekend work.

Requirements

Associate or technical degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience; examples include architectural, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or construction management degrees.
Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
Excellent communication, self-motivation, and organizational skills.
Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Nice To Haves

Fire protection design experience.
NICET certification.
AutoCAD and/or Hydratec experience.

Responsibilities

Design and lay out fire sprinkler systems.
Read, analyze, and interpret contract documents, including construction drawings and specifications across disciplines.
Write, plan, coordinate, and make presentations to individuals and groups.
Work with mathematical concepts, including hydraulic calculations and project cost analysis.
Develop positive, ongoing customer relationships to ensure satisfaction.
Provide fire sprinkler designs using AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and AutoSPRINK.
Perform BIM modeling and field surveying.
Provide fabrication lists and coordinate between trades.
Perform other duties as assigned.
