About The Position

Abridge is seeking a Design Operations Manager to scale, support, and streamline operations across their product design organization. This role is a blend of strategy and execution, focusing on shaping the design team's operational framework while actively participating in the day-to-day activities that enable high-quality design. The Design Operations Manager will collaborate with product design leadership, research, engineering, and product management to ensure the design team can produce high-quality, high-impact work efficiently and at scale. The position reports to the VP of Product Design and is based at the San Francisco HQ, with relocation assistance offered.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in design operations within high-growth technology environments.
  • Proven ability to build and scale 0-to-1 operational systems across multidisciplinary teams, balancing long-term vision with hands-on execution.
  • A nuanced understanding of process, knowing when to advocate for it, when to be flexible, and its limitations.
  • Deep familiarity with the design and product development lifecycle, from research and concepting to delivery and iteration.
  • Experience managing shared design tools, assets, and libraries for consistency and efficiency at scale.
  • Vendor and contractor management experience, focused on seamless collaboration and quality outcomes.
  • High organizational rigor combined with a bias for action; comfortable with detailed work to drive progress.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with senior leadership, technical partners, and designers at all levels.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and solve problems in real time to maintain team momentum.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and lead a complete product re-design initiative for Abridge.
  • Collaborate with design leadership to identify and implement programs, processes, and tools to enhance team effectiveness.
  • Manage operational planning and execution for key initiatives, including team rituals, hiring coordination, onboarding, resource allocation, and internal communications.
  • Develop and maintain scalable systems to support team growth, execution excellence, and collaboration across research, engineering, and product.
  • Oversee asset management within the design organization, ensuring version control, accessibility, and consistent usage of shared libraries and templates.
  • Manage external vendors and contractors, including onboarding, scoping, resourcing, contract workflows, and performance tracking.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering Operations to align OKRs, roadmaps, and delivery milestones.
  • Drive the intake, prioritization, and resource planning processes for design work in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
  • Clarify ownership, roles, and execution timelines to ensure proper stakeholder involvement.
  • Facilitate retrospectives, team health check-ins, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide hands-on support for system setup, sprint planning, vendor onboarding, and tool troubleshooting.
