About The Position

The Design Intern uses Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) systems to prepare documents and create drawings from supplied sketches and instructions in support of Production, Product Development, and Engineering projects. Working with limited equipment and process knowledge, the intern collaborates with Maintenance and Engineering on reverse-engineered, dimensioned OEM parts drawings for emergency replacements. The intern also develops small retrofit assemblies from sketches and direction provided by Engineering or Production, and may oversee fabrication and installation under others’ direction.

The role prepares 2-D architectural layouts or product drawings in close cooperation with Process Engineers, Project Engineers, and Product Development personnel. The intern may assist other design personnel on larger projects and work with CAD/design personnel to maintain and improve the drawing control and management system to protect company intellectual property. The intern must follow OSHA and company procedures in their own activities. First Quality provides at least annual data privacy and security training to employees whose role specifications may bring them into contact with sensitive data.

Responsibilities

• May oversee fabrication and installation of improvements under the direction of others.

• Assist other design personnel on larger projects under their direction.
• Work with CAD/design personnel to maintain and improve the drawing control and management system to protect company intellectual property.
