About The Position

Using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) systems, the Design Intern prepares documents and creates drawings from supplied sketches and instructions to support Production, Product Development, and Engineering projects. The intern works with limited equipment and process knowledge, collaborating closely with Maintenance and Engineering to create reverse-engineered, dimensioned OEM parts drawings for emergency replacements. The role may also involve designing small retrofit assemblies to improve production equipment and assisting with larger projects under the direction of other design personnel.

The intern prepares 2-D architectural layouts or product drawings in cooperation with Process Engineer, Project Engineer, or Product Development personnel. Alongside other CAD and Design personnel, the intern helps maintain and improve the drawing control and management system to protect company intellectual property, and must follow OSHA and company procedures in personal activities. Responsibilities

• Prepare documents and create drawings using CAD systems based on supplied sketches and instructions to support Production, Product Development, and Engineering projects.
• Work with Maintenance and Engineering to create reverse-engineered, dimensioned OEM parts drawings for emergency replacements.
• Design small retrofit assemblies to improve production equipment using sketches and direction from Engineering or Production.
• May oversee fabrication and installation of improvements under the direction of others.
• Prepare 2-D architectural layouts or product drawings in cooperation with Process Engineer, Project Engineer, or Product Development personnel.
• Assist other design personnel with larger projects under their direction.
• Help maintain and improve the drawing control and management system with other CAD and Design personnel to protect company intellectual property.
• Ensure OSHA and company procedural compliance in personal activities.
