About The Position

As a Design Engineering Intern at Walker Partners, you will work alongside experienced engineering, surveying, and construction management teams to gain exposure to various aspects of the civil engineering industry. You will assist your project team and collaborate with engineers on diverse civil engineering projects, including general civil, land development, water resources, transportation, and institutions. This internship offers hands-on experience across multiple civil engineering disciplines, following projects from conceptual design and coordination through the bidding process and construction management support. You will be involved in delivering projects from start to finish.

Requirements

• Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline (from ABET Accredited Civil Engineering Program)
• Must currently be a Junior or Senior
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work for Walker Partners in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Use technical software, including but not limited to AutoCAD Civil3D, HEC-RAS, Hydroflow, ArcGIS, Flowmaster, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel, to develop, analyze, and quality-check engineering plans and technical specifications.
• Support civil engineering efforts - including planning, design, and permitting - across a diverse portfolio of projects.
• Work side-by-side with project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to tackle complex challenges and bring our clients' infrastructure and development goals to life.
• Build working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations while gaining familiarity with Walker Partners' quality standards and client specific procedures.
• Actively participate in several Walker Partners University workshops, seminars, and field trips.
