About The Position

PCI Dallas 114 operations is seeking an experienced Design Engineer. This individual will be responsible for attending kick-off meetings, creating 3D models using Revit, participating in BIM coordination and design meetings, and developing various scopes of work. The role involves coordinating with point cloud files, ensuring model coordination, escalating issues, performing BIM compliance checks, and utilizing Navisworks Manage for clash detection. The Design Engineer will also be involved in staff training, creating and maintaining project-specific content, implementing BIM/VDC best practices, coordinating with service providers and clients, and providing design support tasks. Special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (Construction Management, Construction Science, Architecture, Engineering Fields, etc.) preferred. A 2-year technical degree or 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree is acceptable.
  • 4+ years of BIM (Revit)/VDC modeling and coordination experience.
  • Proficiency with software platforms including Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage, and BIM 360 Design/Glue.
  • Ability to present a portfolio demonstrating work in Revit and Revit Family Editor.
  • Experience with Bluebeam PDF Software.
  • Ability to understand design and document coordination.

  • Ability to take responsibility for the outcome and results of assigned projects.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Word.

  • Must be flexible and willing to visit project site and area of importance as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with construction preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Dynamo, Revit API, SketchUp, and iConstruct are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Attend kick-off meeting with design and/or operations staff at the beginning of a project to ensure Level of Development, scope, project details, and contract requirements are understood before modeling begins.
  • Create 3D models utilizing Revit.
  • Actively participate in BIM coordination and design meetings.
  • Develop and model scopes as requested, including, but not limited to, Interior and Exterior Walls (framing), Ceiling and Soffit Framing, Acoustical Ceilings, Specialty Panels, Raised Access Floor, Clean Room Walls, Clean Room Ceilings, Unistrut, No Fly Zones, and other specialty scopes to the required Level of Development using Revit and other Revit add-on programs.
  • Coordinate with point cloud files.
  • Ensure models produced are spatially coordinated.
  • Escalate any issues to the BIM Coordinator and Design or Operations Team.
  • Elevate model and document inconsistencies to the attention of the BIM Coordinator and Design/Operations Team to determine what action is to be taken.
  • Ensure all elements of the model are fully coordinated within PCI’s scope.
  • Perform BIM compliance checks of deliverables.
  • QC model against project documents for discrepancies.
  • Utilize Navisworks Manage to run clash detection and identify potential issues.
  • Use Navisworks to resolve PCI clashes.
  • Attend staff training to enhance staff members’ knowledge and expertise of the standardized software used.
  • Create and maintain project-specific content to ensure they are consistently aligned with instructions, guidelines, in-house standards, and the project’s BIM standards.
  • Actively engage with Design and Operations Team to implement best BIM/VDC practices.
  • Coordinate with BIM/VDC service providers and clients.
  • Provide and design support tasks including but not limited to: processing install drawings, incorporating comments, producing details and layout files.
  • Clean, prepare, and organize CAD/Navisworks files for field use.
  • Special projects as assigned.
