About The Position

Multimatic's Structures & Suspension Design Department is looking for talented Design Engineers to help develop automotive structures and suspension products for the world’s leading OEMs. Our team works across control arms, suspension links, ball joints, body structures, bumper systems, instrument panel structures, and ACCRA hot-formed tubular structures. In this role, you’ll take components from concept through to production, helping ensure they meet performance, cost, quality, and manufacturability targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in automotive component design, including relevant co-op, internship, or full-time industry experience.
  • Proficient in CAD software (CATIA or NX preferred) for 3D modelling and GD&T drafting.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for high-volume manufacture and assembly.
  • Understanding of DFMEA, DVP&R, structured root cause analysis methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
  • A genuine passion for mechanical design and the automotive industry, demonstrated through personal projects, Formula SAE participation, or hands-on experiences with vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Generate innovative design concepts for automotive structures and suspension products to satisfy OEM customer requirements.
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings with GD&T, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with program management, process, and quality teams at Multimatic’s manufacturing divisions to support DFM, DFA, and VA/VE activities.
  • Support validation activities including CAE, testing, and design reviews.
  • Support department R&D and innovation activities related to automotive structures and suspension systems.
  • Analyze test results and support root-cause investigations to drive design improvements.
  • Participate in prototype builds, product launches, and manufacturing support activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
  • Communicate directly with customers to understand technical requirements, provide design solutions, and program updates.
  • Adhere to company safety, quality, and environmental standards.
