About The Position

Astura Medical is a quality-driven, surgeon-inspired, and innovative medical device company. We have a robust distribution channel combined with passion and innovation to drive our teams to achieve great success with developing medical devices and entering them into the spinal implant marketplace. We're centrally located in Irving, TX, near the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, and we offer a collaborative work environment with casual dress and work-life balance. This position reports to the office 5-days per week and we do not have remote or hybrid opportunities. Only local candidates will be considered as we do not offer relocation assistance. Astura's Design Engineer will serve as a design resource during the development process. The primary goal of the Design Engineer is to use established requirements to design devices using CAD software.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1-3 years in product design
• Good CAD skills
• Good understanding of fundamental mechanical principles
• Creative thinker and problem solver
• Motivated and self-starter
• Detail oriented
• Organized
• Experience with Microsoft Office Products: Excel, Word, Outlook
• Hands-on mechanical ability and machine experience
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

• Formal CAD and GD&T training preferred
• Manufacturing experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Responsible for modeling of complex parts using Solidworks CAD software including; design tables, surfacing, and complex assemblies.
• Responsible for creating manufacturing drawings per ASME Y14.5.
• Responsible for performing tolerance analysis on all interfacing devices.
• Responsible for working with manufacturing personnel to ensure parts can be efficiently manufactured.
