AESSEALRockford, IL

About The Position

The Design Engineer role involves modifying standard seals for non-standard equipment and designing seals for new machinery applications using standard seal face geometry. This includes creating bespoke seal designs for non-standard applications and equipment, and collaborating with senior design engineers on new design ideas. The role also entails designing special test equipment, creating SAP material codes and Bills of Materials (BOMs), and liaising with internal and external customers, including sales engineers and distributors, via various communication channels. Additionally, the Design Engineer will work with the seal assembly workshop and manufacturing inspection departments to resolve engineering issues and agree on concessions according to ISO procedures. Assistance will be provided to the seal assembly team on testing issues and to the application engineering team on seal enquiries and dimensional fit. The role also includes developing and implementing design department procedures, providing technical support during breakdown situations, and understanding seal failure analysis and how seal design impacts performance on-site at customer locations. A strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and interpret detailed drawings are essential. Other duties may be assigned as business needs dictate. AESSEAL is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
