About The Position

Wispr is building the first voice interface that a billion people use every day. Their first product, Flow, allows users to talk instead of type on their computer or phone, converting speech into polished text. The company has experienced significant growth, scaling from $2M to $50M in ARR in under 12 months, with millions of users and thousands of enterprise customers. The team is small, allowing individuals to significantly shape the product. This role focuses on designing interfaces for voice-first interactions across various platforms, including iOS, Android, CarPlay, and Apple Watch. The Design Engineer will have a key voice in the product roadmap, build new interaction paradigms for next-generation human-computer interaction (HCI) using frontier models, and develop systems to improve the company's UI/UX shipping capabilities. The role involves direct customer interaction to understand and improve the product. The ideal candidate has strong opinions on interface design, a keen eye for detail, and a desire to deeply understand user needs and emotions to craft optimal user journeys.

Requirements

  • Strong opinions about what makes an interface feel right, and the ability to defend them.
  • Notices if a single pixel is off on the screen.
  • Would be embarrassed to ship a non-seamless UI.
  • Looks at existing user interfaces and thinks: "Ahh, I wish I could just make this better".
  • Aims to deeply understand the users, their emotions, and loves to craft the journey to take them on.

Responsibilities

  • Design interfaces for voice-first interactions across iOS, Android, CarPlay, Apple Watch, and more.
  • Have a key voice in the direction of the product roadmap.
  • Build new interactions paradigms on top of the frontier models we're building for next-gen HCI.
  • Build systems to enable the whole company to ship better UI/UX.
  • Talk to customers, observe them, and then obsessively make the product better for them.
