About The Position

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Design Engineer II to unlock your ambition and work the future at Aalberts. As a Design Engineer ll – Smart Products & Connected Systems, you will be responsible for the design and development of electromechanical and connected valve products. In this hands-on engineering role, you will apply your expertise in mechanical and electrical integration to develop innovative products that incorporate actuation, sensing, control, communication, and emerging software-enabled capabilities. You will work across disciplines to bring new products from concept through commercialization while contributing to the development of our smart product capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Three or more years of experience developing electromechanical or industrial products.
  • Experience integrating electrical, electronic, or electromechanical components into commercial or industrial products.
  • Working knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems, electrical schematics, electromechanical integration, and product development.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software and engineering documentation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
  • Upper intermediate (B2) language level in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with actuators, motors, sensors, communication devices, or industrial control systems.
  • Familiarity with Modbus, BACnet, CAN, Ethernet/IP, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or similar communication protocols.
  • Exposure to embedded software, firmware, or software-controlled hardware systems
  • Experience integrating commercially available technologies into mechanical products.
  • Experience with industrial valves, flow control products, HVAC equipment, fluid handling systems, industrial automation, or similar engineered products.
  • Familiarity with UL, CSA, FCC, CE, or other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Experience bringing products from concept through production.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electromechanical valve and flow control products
  • Integrate actuators, motors, sensors, electronic controls, and communication devices into engineered product solutions
  • Develop 3D models, drawings, schematics, specifications, and bills of material
  • Support the integration of connected and intelligent features into mechanical products
  • Contribute to product designs that enable capabilities such as remote monitoring, system visibility, commissioning, and diagnostics
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on electronics, communication, and embedded software-related solutions
  • Support development and integration activities involving firmware, embedded systems, or software-controlled devices, where applicable
  • Plan and conduct laboratory testing and validation activities, including validation of electromechanical and software-enabled system performance
  • Analyze test results and implement design improvements
  • Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and quality requirements
  • Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support product development and launches
  • Support supplier and partner engagement to evaluate and integrate new technologies and components
  • Contribute to product development from concept through production
  • Research emerging technologies relevant to electromechanical, connected, and software-enabled products
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing products and support future product development
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by your manager
