About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking a Design Engineer 3 to join their Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. This role involves designing, engineering, integrating, operating, and maintaining electronic security services, including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local, and commercial customers. The Design Engineer 3 will be an expert in designing and deploying various technologies to enhance customers' physical security posture, manage technical requirements, and lead the regional engineering team. The position requires in-depth knowledge of physical security solutions, design modeling and standards, and the ability to translate customer needs into scalable design solutions. The role is located in Stuttgart, Germany, and relocation is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • 5+ years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity.
  • Provision of SE services for physical security system and IT solutions.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Working knowledge and/or certification with electronic security systems and applications like CCURE (Software House), Genetec, Lenel, Milestone, HID, Axis, and/or others.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of how these systems operate and be familiar with flaws and improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Development of systems and project requirements as per clients’ needs.
  • Collaboration with clients, partners, vendors and internal teams to provide best-in-class solutions.
  • High level of systems designs with required technical specifications.
  • Systems analysis reports and design development.
  • Preparation of new builds and projects drawings, specifications, technology product selection, installation sequence planning, commissioning testing/commissioning scripts, process streamlining and improvements.
  • Define and determine design projects scope of work based on customers’ needs providing high quality design solutions and incorporating new models to augment design standards.
  • Review Request for Proposals (RFP) documentation, Statement of Work, and Client Specifications provided for new project bids.
  • Develop Bill of Materials (BOM) and Forecast Engineering Time for new project bids.
  • Develop procedures to validate system configuration, test plans, deployment/commissioning plans and administration procedures.
  • Developing and improving design standards.
  • Leading complex projects, mentoring and overseeing projects execution through design excellence processes, ensuring high delivery quality.
  • Design, sustain, and provide technical support for deployed security systems.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to identify skill gaps and prioritize training initiatives.
  • Collaborate with installation, deployment, and Project Management teams to ensure standards are maintained, provide recommendations and guidance on solution deployments, and assist in resolving issues at a high level.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams on new technology developments or changes in customers’ environments that may require new solutions.
  • Help identify, as needed, new technologies and/or changes in customer environments that may require new solutions and present them to the senior engineering management to be developed.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on security engineering needs and requirements for system performance, installations, and sustainment programs.
