The Transportation Planning and Management (TPM) division is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City's streets, supporting economic and social vitality. The Office of Livable Streets (OLS) prioritizes strategic planning, community engagement, research, policy, design, implementation, and long-term management to create livable streets that support safety, accessibility, inclusion, resiliency, active modes, community cohesion, and economic vitality. OLS aims to enhance New York City's pedestrian, bicycle, and micromobility networks, providing comfortable, connected, green, and reliable transportation options. The Cycling & Micromobility Unit, responsible for the nation's largest network of on-street bicycle facilities, focuses on enhancing street safety and increasing bike ridership through innovative street redesigns to expand and improve the bike network, emphasizing connectivity, access to safe infrastructure, and an equitable transportation network. This role is crucial for collaborating with engineers and planners to ensure innovative urban bikeway designs are incorporated into projects that reduce preventable deaths and injuries and encourage mode shift.
