About The Position

The Design Consultant at Floor & Decor is the entry point into design. This role engages customers on the sales floor, supports their design projects, and conducts design appointments to determine their needs when selecting tile, wood, stone, and accessory products across a range of colors, textures, patterns, and designs. The Design Consultant partners with store leaders to maximize sales goals and expand the design services brand.

The role provides product and design advice to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for residential and commercial projects; develops and sells complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions; and manages multiple customer projects from inquiry through installation. It also supports company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of retail or customer service experience.
• High school diploma and/or GED.
• Proficiency in basic mathematical skills.
• Self-motivated and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer knowledge, including the Microsoft Office suite.
• Internal candidates must have a minimum of 6 months with Floor & Decor.

Responsibilities

• Greet store customers helpfully and support walk-in design needs.
• Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers, and develop clientele through networking, referrals, and store-generated leads.
• Provide tile, wood, stone, and accessory advice to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for residential and commercial projects.
• Design and sell complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions.
• Manage multiple simultaneous customer projects through all phases with accuracy, timeliness, follow-up, and consistent, concise communication.
• Use company communication tools and email consistently and proficiently.
• Collaborate and communicate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation and achieve sales and other goals.
• Support company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees.
• Understand and use design applications, including Salesforce, the proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, and MyProject.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
