About The Position

Design-Build Project Engineer Our client is a well-established, growth-oriented infrastructure contractor with a strong footprint in the water and wastewater sector. They are seeking a Design-Build Project Engineer to join their California Water Division. This role bridges the gap between design and construction - a critical position for project success. This is an excellent opportunity for current Project Coordinators or Project Engineers in the water/wastewater or construction space who are ready to take on broader responsibility and are looking to grow into a Project Manager role in the near future. Our client values internal growth, and this position is structured to develop that path.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years of Design-Build experience in the Water/Wastewater industry, either on a contractor or designer side

Nice To Haves

  • California PE license preferred, but not a requirement

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary interface between design subconsultants and construction staff
  • Facilitating communication, managing RFIs, and resolving technical questions in a timely manner.
  • Identify and coordinate cost-saving strategies through design refinement, value engineering, and equivalent/better change proposals.
  • Conduct internal quality control reviews of design packages at each milestone, and perform ongoing constructability reviews alongside engineers and field personnel.
  • Track and manage the design schedule, collaborating with the design team to keep work aligned with budget and project timeline.
  • Support project management and estimating teams through procurement and GMP development phases.
  • Contribute to the development of SOQs and proposals for new pursuits, supporting the firm's business development goals.
