The Design and Change Control Engineer supports product design and owns the engineering change (EC) process. The role divides time between designing new and existing products and managing engineering changes from request through release. Working with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, the engineer ensures designs and changes are accurate, timely, and meet company and industry requirements. As part of a centralized Design team, the role supports the design of global water filtration products. Design work includes creating and updating 3D models and detailed drawings in SolidWorks, designing filtration components, housings, and test fixtures under senior engineers’ direction, applying GD&T standards, and supporting prototype builds, 3D printing, design verification testing, supplier manufacturability discussions, cost reduction, and sustaining engineering projects. The engineer owns the EC process, including ECRs, ECOs, and ECNs; coordinates priorities, ownership, impact reviews, and approvals; participates on the EC Board; implements changes in Epicor; and maintains drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and EC records. The role also maintains and improves change-control tools and workflows, trains and supports other teams, and assists with internal and external audits. The position leads low- to moderate-complexity engineering and cross-functional projects from planning through completion. It develops project plans, coordinates activities, tracks progress, communicates status, risks, and decisions, and works across functions to resolve issues and meet objectives. The engineer manages multiple priorities, identifies practical improvements, and follows company quality, safety, regulatory, and documentation requirements. The position is based on-site in West Haven, Connecticut.
