About The Position

Join The Oregon Clinic as a full-time (32.5 hours per week) Dermatology Registered Nurse (Level 1) in our Broadway Medical - Dermatology Clinic in Northeast Portland. This role involves working collaboratively with patient-focused colleagues and physicians to deliver world-class care with kindness and empathy. You will be responsible for providing professional nursing care, acting as a liaison between patients, staff, and physicians, performing patient assessments and triage, documenting encounters, performing clinical care in accordance with nursing standards, assisting providers with procedures, providing patient and family health education, ordering prescription refills, anticipating physician needs, ordering and maintaining medical supplies, checking emergency medications, and supporting the QA/QI process. The goal is to ensure patients receive the highest-value care tailored to their needs through excellent customer service and communication skills.

Requirements

  • Current Oregon state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current CPR/BLS within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Registered Nurse in a Dermatology outpatient clinical setting is strongly preferred.
  • ACLS may be required by specialty.
  • Prior Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience is strongly preferred.
  • Epic experience is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Providing professional nursing care for clinic patients under the direction of a Physician(s) and within their scope of practice according to the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
  • Works directly with physicians and staff in coordinating excellent patient care.
  • Functioning as the primary liaison between patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Performing patient assessment and triage, either in person or over the phone.
  • Properly documenting all encounters for providers review, flagging any urgent concerns.
  • Performing clinical care in accordance with nursing standards within the specialty; may include taking vitals, recording and verifying medications, wound care, phlebotomy, injections, administering injections and treatments.
  • Assisting providers with routine dermatology procedures/surgeries.
  • Providing patient and families health education.
  • Ordering prescription refills according to clinic protocol.
  • Assisting physicians with procedures according to prescribed standards.
  • Anticipating the needs of the physician.
  • Ordering and maintaining medical inventory of supplies as needed.
  • Checking emergency medication and IV trays regularly.
  • Supporting the QA/QI process.
  • Other duties as assigned.
