About The Position

The Deputy Treasurer/Recorder provides quality customer service and performs recording, bookkeeping, and administrative procedures in support of the Treasurer/Recorder’s Office operations. This role involves interacting with the public via various channels, processing important documents, managing tax revenue, assisting with passport applications and wills, conducting information searches, and maintaining accurate records. The position requires attention to detail in reviewing documents, indexing data, and updating property ownership information. Additionally, the role includes general administrative duties such as data entry and operating office equipment, while ensuring the confidentiality of non-public records and the accessibility of public records according to North Dakota Century Code.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED AND one (1) year of customer services or office support experience using a computer; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Must possess a valid North Dakota Driver’s License or equivalent
  • Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service to the public via telephone, mail, and in-person; responds to inquiries regarding Treasurer/Recorder’s Office
  • Collects deeds, liens, real estate information, and other documents; reviews documents for accuracy of the information and completes processing procedures
  • Collects and processes tax revenue received from the public
  • Processes passport applications and assists the public with filing wills
  • Conducts information searches and assists the public requiring information
  • Indexes and verifies data from documents to a computer
  • Updates and maintains information on property ownership cards and tax rolls
  • Prepares department reports
  • Performs administrative duties such as data entry, operating office machines, and maintaining files and records.
  • Maintains confidentiality of non-public records and makes available all data and information deemed a public record by the North Dakota Century Code.
