About The Position

Utah County Government Employees start every day with the well-being of the entire community in mind. This role is vital to the success of our state, county, and local communities. Deputy Sheriffs assigned to Corrections help maintain the safety and security of the Utah County Security Center. Duties include inmate booking, housing, transportation, supervision, and inmate work programs. This is an opportunity to launch a law enforcement career with no prior experience required. Once hired, you will be paid while attending training and sponsored through the Utah POST Academy to obtain your Basic Corrections Officer Certification.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 19 years old to attend POST Academy
  • Valid driver’s license (Utah license required within 60 days of hire)
  • Pass background investigation
  • Pass Polygraph examination
  • Pass Psychological evaluation
  • Pass Medical exam and drug screening
  • Become POST certified within 12 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 18 months of certified corrections experience (for Deputy Sheriff II position)
