We are currently seeking a Deputy Program Manager (DPM) to support our FAA ERSS Project. The Deputy Program Manager (DPM) supports the Program Manager in the execution of multiple complex remediation projects, long-term O&M, and GIS/UAS programs. The DPM assists with the development and implementation of project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables; monitors compliance with contractual obligations, terms, and performance standards; coordinates resource allocation, subcontractor activities, and staff assignments; ensures projects are running on time and within budget; prepares periodic performance reports, including status updates, milestones, and risks. The DPM also serves as the FAA ERSS Project Geologist managing project sampling, reporting, and technical oversight. The FAA ERSS Contract Deputy Program Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth execution of environmental projects, compliance with regulations, and effective collaboration among stakeholders. As the right-hand support to the Program Manager, they are responsible for both operational details and high-level oversight duties that keep programs running efficiently and successfully. The DPM is a critical asset in Amentum’s active succession planning program that ensures continued high performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with Masters degree.
  • Professional Geologist license.
  • Experience in environmental compliance, site remediation, and program/contract management.
  • Strong understanding of environmental laws, standards, and regulations.
  • Experience with GIS mapping.
  • Experience managing procurement and subcontractors.
  • 2+ years of experience leading, mentoring, and/or delegating the work of others.
  • Project and team management experience; ability to manage budgets, schedules, and deliverables; communication and stakeholder relationship-building skills; and analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Program Manager in the execution of multiple complex remediation projects, long-term O&M, and GIS/UAS programs.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Monitors compliance with contractual obligations, terms, and performance standards.
  • Coordinates resource allocation, subcontractor activities, and staff assignments.
  • Ensures projects are running on time and within budget.
  • Prepares periodic performance reports, including status updates, milestones, and risks.
  • Serves as the FAA ERSS Project Geologist managing project sampling, reporting, and technical oversight.
  • Serves as a secondary point of contact for stakeholders, clients, and contractors (in place of the Program Manager when necessary).
  • Facilitates communication between internal teams, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Prepares and presents project reports, updates, and findings to internal or external stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with engineers, scientists, and regulatory experts to ensure high-quality technical execution.
  • Assists the Program Manager in leading and mentoring project teams, including environmental scientists, engineers, analysts, and administrative staff.
  • Addresses team performance issues or workload challenges under Program Manager guidance.
