About The Position

The Deputy Program Director is responsible for the overall operation of assigned service site(s) including staff budget, compliance with State/Federal Regulations or standards of service, and general quality of service to person(s) served in these programs. The Deputy Director will also partner with the Program Director to ensure all training for staff is occurring timely. As Deputy Program Director, the primary duty is to manage and supervise the overall operation and delivery of care within the home, and any other medical needs. Other responsibilities include the supervision of the program staff. Implementing disciplinary actions, holding weekly and or monthly staffing meetings. The tasks are highly complex and require communication skills, organizational abilities, advocacy skills, and overall business sense.

Requirements

  • Must be over the age of 25.
  • BA/BS or master’s degree in Psychology, human service area of study, social work, counseling.
  • Work experience of 3 years in Human Services or residential services for individuals with disabilities.
  • Two years of supervisory experience in child welfare or therapeutic setting that serves children or like experience.
  • Previous experience providing service and support to individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and locations and cover direct care shifts, as necessary.
  • Experience in managing systems, processes, and people.
  • Working knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations concerning services to individuals with acquired brain injuries.
  • Valid Mantoux tuberculin test or chest x-ray within thirty days of employment.
  • Ability to apply general understanding and knowledge to carry out instructions in written, verbal or schedule form.
  • Ability to handle and carry out multiple tasks.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to learn and effectively utilize identified computer software applications to accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to operate general office, household, and adaptive equipment.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, interpret, and apply information from general procedures, safety rules, instructions, data and reports.
  • Ability to use Basic English grammatical skills to write routine reports and general correspondence.
  • Organizational skills and ability to accurately document data and maintain records.
  • Verbal and written skills to effectively communicate information to various audiences and customers.
  • Ability to effectively work as a team member and promote a positive work culture.
  • Ability to communicate (written and verbal) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company.
  • Maintain regular attendance, punctuality, and accurate record of attendance.
  • Ability to organize self and work activities and take initiative to accomplish tasks.
  • Demonstrate cooperative attitude and tolerance for stress when confronted with critical situations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and accountability within the scope of responsibilities.
  • Must have ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include days, evenings, weekends, and/or overnight shifts.
  • Must provide own transportation, have valid driver's license and driving record must meet insurability requirements.
  • Must maintain and provide documentation of auto insurance.
  • Must have ability to lift/move/transfer individuals or materials weighing up to 75 lbs. periodically.
  • Must have ability to stand, walk, stoop, and bend frequently.
  • Must have manual dexterity enough to reach, handle items, work with the fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials (such as medication, first aid supplies, with meal preparation and household tasks).
  • Must maintain CPR and First Aid certification and must stay current on all other training as defined by Indiana state guidelines, industry accreditation standards and company guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the provision of assistance to the children served in order to promote their physical, social, and psychological wellbeing.
  • Oversees that staff follows agency procedures to promote optimum health care, behavior supports and safety practices.
  • Oversees that staff completes all documentation as required to ensure quality services.
  • Conducts timely performance reviews for all direct support staff.
  • Maintains a work environment that supports dignity and fair treatment of staff.
  • Participates in recruitment, ensures vacancies are filled in a timely manner, and participates in all hiring and termination decision for assigned locations.
  • Ensures the schedules are being prepared and posted in a timely manner, and efficiently utilizes staff.
  • Oversees staff training and orientation and that all records are turned in timely to the administrator.
  • Serves as a positive role model and supports development of staff.
  • Conduct staff counseling and corrective action including work improvement plans and follow-up.
  • Supervises the implementation for systems for disposal, collection and storing of medical waste.
  • Partners with the Program Director to ensure all documentation and records are compliant.
  • Monitors labor hours and ensures assigned service site(s) are operating within budgetary guidelines.
  • Receiving and fielding referral calls received regarding services.
  • Oversee the planning and development of Care Plans.
  • Supports the supervision of staff interaction with person(s) served and support staff to promote the rights of the person(s) served to achieve enhanced quality of life.
  • Oversees the and participates in recruitment, ensures vacancies are filled in a timely manner, and participates in all hiring and termination decision for assigned locations.
  • Supports the supervision to ensures the schedules are being prepared and posted in a timely manner, and efficiently utilizes staff.
  • Supports the supervision of the day-to-day activities and requirements to run an affective facility.
  • Monitors labor hours and ensures assigned service site(s) are operating within budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensure all staff are completing Environment of Care rounds per policy.
  • Receiving and fielding referral calls received regarding services as needed.
  • Perform duties of the Program Director whenever there is a vacancy, or period of time when they’re unavailable.
