About The Position

The Player Progression Academy (PPA) is a multi-sport youth academy serving the NW DC/Bethesda corridor. Our Plus division serves Tots (ages 2–5) and Afterschool soccer and basketball programs, providing structured, coach-led youth sports. PPA has a community of over 3000 players, over 100 coaches, and an office staff of 20 individuals, focusing on player development both on and off the field. This is a hybrid role where the Deputy Director will spend time coaching on the field and driving program operations, logistics, and development behind the scenes. The role is ideal for someone passionate about youth sports and coaching, who also wants to build a career in business development, strategy, and program management.

Requirements

  • Passion for youth sports, coaching, and sports program development
  • Prior coaching experience required (either soccer or basketball, preferably both)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, reporting, budgeting and planning
  • Familiarity with AI tools for productivity, research, and content creation
  • Experience with Canva or other design platforms for marketing materials
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Interest in business development, strategy, and program management
  • Must be able to independently identify needs, prioritize opportunities, and follow through with high degree of autonomy

Responsibilities

  • Coach Afterschool soccer and/or basketball clinics (minimum 5 hrs/week, Mon–Fri)
  • Coach Tots (ages 2–5) soccer and/or basketball (minimum 8 hrs/week, weekends)
  • Help design, build, and refine programming for Afterschool and Tots
  • Support program operations end-to-end — scheduling, logistics, participant experience
  • Contribute to business development: identifying growth opportunities, supporting strategic planning
  • Create marketing materials using Canva or similar tools
