About The Position

The Deputy Finance Director serves as a key operational and analytical partner to the Deputy Executive Director, providing support on all finance and accounting-related matters. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance and efficiency, while helping translate strategic priorities into actionable financial plans. This position is primarily execution-focused, with responsibility for implementing financial strategies and maintaining strong internal controls.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration and financial management
  • Knowledge of both governmental and private accounting practices and procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, both internally and externally
  • Ability to analyze financial problems and present solutions clearly and concisely
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to apply principles and practices associated with the area of assignment
  • Ability to create and manage complex accounting and reporting systems
  • Ability to coordinate several concurrent projects and various personnel associated with their completion
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities as assigned in accordance with the agency’s policies and applicable laws
  • At a minimum, requires combination of knowledge, skills and abilities to perform duties and either a graduate degree with six years of related experience or an undergraduate degree with eight years of related experience or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Assists with maintenance and oversight of biweekly payroll process in ADP and other web portals; serves as main backup for all payroll processing
  • Oversee daily financial activities, including budgeting, accounting, reporting and cash flow management
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and internal reports.
  • Assist in the development and administration of the annual budget
  • Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and scenario planning to support decision making
  • Assist with development, maintenance and oversight of PAG procurement procedures and provide agency personnel guidance, training and assistance in the procurement process
  • Track expenditures and ensure alignment with approved budgets
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls, policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, audit requirements and reporting standards
  • Coordinate audit preparation and support external auditors as needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, reporting, and operational management
  • Recommend actions and improvement to Deputy Executive Director
  • Provide guidance to C-suite on interpretation of financial statements and support ongoing operational needs
  • Maintain clear financial ties and contracts with partner organizations as necessary.
